Todays light

I shot these tonight while Ian made our Dinner. He made a brown rice pasta with fresh parm and a sauce of mushrooms, sundried, tomatoes, onions, garlic and a little wine. Yellow beets, parsnips and asparagus for the vegetable as a medley and for dessert fresh lemon curd topped with a fresh fruit….The strawberries below. When I met him he was cooking my favorite pasta. It is his fault I have this gut. A. because of carrying all of his children and B. he can cook. I may be a damn good cook, but he is an accomplished chef! Darn it. I was standing on the porch he just finished building to take these pictures. This is what I look at when I wash the dishes. I am very fortunate to have such a sweet, rich and beautiful life and husband Today I watched HBOs documentary on Sally Mann WOW, I love her photography. WOW WOW WOW. She is one of my favorites. I enjoyed her vocabulary and her artist process very much. I want to go live on her farm ride horses and photograph with her. I learned a lot today. I talked with Liv in Switzerland. I ordered masks the kind that keep out FLU Virus . Not cheap. I spoke with both of my sons that are in Sonoma. Jane and Tristan are at hunter’s safety tonight. They are learning how to handle firearms since the PAPA is a cop and we have them around. They will be needing dinner in minutes.

Let me here call attention to one of the most universally popular mistakes that have to do with photography - that of classing supposedly excellent work as professional, and using the term amateur to convey the idea of immature productions and to excuse atrociously poor photographs. As a matter of fact nearly all the greatest work is being, and has always been done, by those who are following photography for the love of it, and not merely for financial reasons. As the name implies, an amateur is one who works for love; and viewed in this light the incorrectness of the popular classification is readily apparent. - Alfred Stieglitz - in 1899

Between here and Reno

I love to shoot the big sky landscape off of 395 from Reno to Chester and I shot it while we were driving through a dirty window. This is how I keep busy while Ian drives.
