Our new Neopolitan Masitiff, Kira (we took her in), gave birth to 9 puppies the night before last. Starting at 1 am. Unfortuantely, I went to bed at 12 AM so I had one hour of sleep comparred to her none. I have been present for two natural childbirths, my sister's son and miss Kayler's birth,she was 10 pounds, her mom, Joan, is one tough girl. I coached Joan. I also had 5 of my own births. Ryon, Liv, Jane and Lilly were all nighters. I had my 16 year old and 15 year old at home. Natural child birth is rough on the mama, but great for the babies. Kira had an easy labor, just long, Kira had a puppy every 45 minutes and I went to bed at about 8 30 AM before the last puppy came. They are 100% Neopolitan Mastiffs, all tawny colored with a white patch on the chest. 5 girls 4 boys. All healthy and happy and nursing great!! I have been in the box with the puppies probably too much. I have a feeling I am not going to get much done over the next few weeks, but play with puppies. There is a pile of puppies and they make me SO happy. Poop and all. My washer and dryer haven't had a break in 36 hours and counting. Pictures to come!!
