Hello! My name is Kim James and I am a fine artist & fine art wedding and portrait photographer from San Francisco living in Plumas County. I specialize in capturing honest emotion in portraiture, artistic details and the real moments for the coolest people in Northern California.

My blog trails both my professional and personal life, and features photographs from everything I shoot and my thoughts on real issues. This site is meant to be casual and openly honest. Unedited. I wanted my clients to have a real feeling about who I am and sometimes that can prove to be fun or a bit off the wall, but always real.

My aim is to provide stunning, contemporary imagery with fashion editorial style and artistic edge. That means I shoot what naturally unfolds and if your up for it, some gentle direction, for an editorial look. I also provide wedding destination coverage to my favorite Northern California places and venues; including Reno, Lake Tahoe, North Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Mendocino, Sonoma, St. Helena, Calistoga, Napa, San Francisco, Chico, Redding, Lake Almanor and Susanville.

I can't say enough about how much I'd admire Nan's taste. I am not really a gusher or a big compliment payer. I have admired her stores for over 15 years. I feel so happy to be included in her beautiful shops.

B and B Gallery show hanging on Oct 1st

I am hanging a fine art photography show today at our local gallery, B and B Booksellers Gallery, a great book and gift shop it is too! This will be my third show there. My first was watercolor. It has taken me longer to choose my few pieces than to put them together and frame them. I settled on pieces that moved me. Being an ex agent I know I have no business choosing my own work. I am too close. I know how to edit an individual piece, adjust it to the way I saw it, but choosing from a body of work that amounts to thousands of shots is overwhelming. I shot my fingers to the bone this year. I hope I chose right.
